We are committed to building an inclusive environment

To create a thriving circular apparel economy in BC by 2031, the TLC must foster collaboration in all that we do. For this we need everyone to feel safe, welcome and empowered to participate equally regardless of heritage, education, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, physical capability, neurodiversity, or socio-economic status.

We strive to create an environment of trust, courage and integrity. We are committed to learning and growing by engaging in dialogue on how to remove barriers and dismantle exclusionary systems within our organization.

As part of these efforts, we commit to the following:

  • Expanding our outreach efforts to work with diverse communities

  • Investing time and resources to design and deliver our programming and processes in an inclusive and equitable manner

  • Establishing goals related to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion and generating metrics to measure our progress towards these goals

  • Continuing research and implementing strategies to remove barriers to access in our programming, for example:

    • Offering where possible TLC Community Education Grants and payment options for those experiencing financial barriers to participation in our programming

    • Providing accessibility tools and accommodations for our programming and application processes

  • Welcoming, listening to and learning from constructive critique, to continuously improve our processes

TLC Event Accessibility

The TLC endeavours to make our virtual events accessible. Practices we have in place to improve the accessibility of our virtual events include:

Prior to the event

  • Sharing resource material in advance of events, where possible

  • Sharing details on the format and agenda of the events

During the event

  • Receiving questions via text chat or verbally

  • Video being optional (but recommended!)

  • Including regular breaks during event programming that is longer than 60 minutes

If requested, we can also offer:

  • Enabling live transcripts

  • Speakers identify themselves by name when they begin talking

After the event

  • Sharing chat records and a separate list of links shared

  • Sharing notes and/or recordings from workshops

If you would like to notify us in advance or request accommodations beyond this, or have questions about access or format, please contact us at producer@labforcircularity.com prior to the event you are attending.
