Jean lives his purpose within an industry that serves his life’s passion, helping customers achieve their goals by overseeing and managing the complexities of getting their outdoor products to market sustainably, on time, and on budget. Jean leads a diverse and globally distributed team of research/design/development partners in their vision to accelerate the move to a more sustainable resource-efficient economy through re-inventing how they design, produce and bring exciting outdoor gear to market. Prior to founding Vertical RISC, he served as AVP, Product Development & Global Sourcing for FGL Sports Ltd., a division of the Candian Tire Company for 13 years, and as a senior leader with a Canadian owned outerwear manufacturer and importer for 12 years before that.

Besides playing in traffic where people, planet, product and prosperity intersect, Jean has a deep passion for igniting curiosity and confidence in young minds, connecting youth with nature, its vulnerability, and both its transformational and restorative powers. He expects to be inspiring another group of young people across the West Coast Trail again this fall. It will be his fifteenth opportunity. For Jean and his charges the wild itself will remain amongst the best of classrooms.

Jean lives with his lifelong partner Tanya and their schnoodle Rufus (13 yrs old, going on 2). Together, they have two gorgeous adult daughters, Cerah and Lara, who resemble their mom in every way. Thankfully.
